She's actually pretty Tamaskan-like for a backcrossed-mix with recent pure German Shepherd heritage. It's too bad that she doesn't qualify for further backcrossing with any Tamaskan studs due to her origin being from an accident and that her mother was not vetted by the committee.

That doesn't mean individual owners can't approach the TDR to see if they'll accept any of these pups as foundation dogs/outcrosses. ;)

According to what Miran told me on facebook, that won't be the case. Nova was originally planned for spaying but apparently the dogs had other plans in their mind
Also, because Nova was never health tested at the time, the NTC have no plans to register any of the dogs as future outcrosses much like the previous accidental case in California with the labrador. As I was told, and all of the pups are simply labelled as German Shepherd crossbreeds at the moment.

That doesn't mean that I can ask the TDR if they will accept
Ylva as foundation dogs/outcros.
When her healt-tests are good, and she is an adult ;)

What a cute little girl! She has a lovely head and expression! I'm very curious how she will look like when she is older.

Thanks for sharing the link... :D
They all have quite dark masks and really look like (nice) working line German Shepherds but the Tamaskan content is very well hidden (not visible at all).

depends on how you look at them, most off them are very GSDish yes but as a GSD fan I can clearly see Ravi in all of them
and I really like their temperaments, I really regret it that I didn't keep Sari.

Ziva's mother also looked kind off like this so of crossed back to a Tam you would probably get good looking pups

they all have moms tail

What about temperament? Do they behave more like GSD or more like Tamaskan? Guarding instinct, prey drive...

Re: Ylva van 't Aelse Sluske

Posted: Sun Jan 05, 2014 6:55 pm
by Vajente
most off them have Ravi's calm personality but are smarter and more biddable.
not much guarding instinct as I know off and I don't know about prey drive but Ravi doesn't have much prey drive either.

Until now, she has no prey drive.
She listens pretty well.
Is to most other dogs first submissive,
and then she tries to challenge them to play with her.

With prey drive I think "ball drive", dog loves to hunt and catch everything that moves. This is different than "hunting instinct", where dog hunts animals, even it is concept quite similar. For the better understanding I like to separate this two meanings ;)

Anyway thanks for the answers, she is very sweet and I am looking forward to see more photos!
