Hope a few of you are interested in it otherwise I wrote these only to remember myself. :)
In the middle of September I got a one day old rabbit. Two dogs bring them home and the sister/brother sadly died immediately... The little one did it to be alive for 12 days and I really really loved it (first picture). Sadly it became a pneumonia and died within 2 hours after I were at a vet...

Only one day after the little one died I became another phone call. This time a cat brings it home and the owner phoned a vet clinic and a few wildlife stations because she did not know what she had to do now. Everyone told her to put it to sleep or let him run his way outside but that meant the certain death! I was really shocked and of course I droved around an hour to pick the baby up.
And it did it (second picture)!!! :D
After a few weeks it no longer needed milk and got more active. Because it was one of the latest born rabbits a few experts told me to keep it until next spring because the chances to survive the first winter are really bad. I knew that I couldn't keep it alone so I searched for other wild rabbits. It also will be easier to be in a little group of others when I let them free. I found two young rabbits which were also hand raised. The girl didn't have the space to keep them over the winter so she was searching for a good place for them. I got them and now I do have 3 wild rabbits living in my basement. They are able to go outside through a small window in my small inner courtyard. But they are not easy, they destroy everything and they can jump veeeeery high! I will be really happy to set them free in a few month...

Oh and since I had the three rabbits Jack is no longer allowed to be with them. His instincts are too strong to controll them if three shy rabbits are running around. ;)

Are these the same European lagomorph species that the domestic rabbits are descended from?

Oww they're adorable!
Lucky little rabbits with you to take care of them.

We've also raised a wild rabbit once. Luckily we got him in the spring so when he was old enough to take care of himself (and big enough to cause trouble  ) we just released him.

They are too cute! It's really lucky how it worked out with getting 3 bunnies (as companions for each other) and I love the special rabbit room you made for them... so awesome! :D

I hope they maintain their fear of other people just for their safety.

They will, no worries.
It's instinct! Althought I fed them every day I couldn't touch them anymore. They were really really shy. ;)
