NGSD Foster Dog

Many of you may not have heard of the New Guinea Singing Dog... it is one of the Primitive Breeds... We are fostering a 4 y/o male... take some time to look into the breed BEFORE viewing the YouTube Vid (below) not so much of a wild, feral dog as many would like to depict... (much like Wolves or Wolf Dogs...) If one treats a dog like a wild animal, then a wild animal one will get..... the vid is over 5 mins long and has VERY poor camera work, but stick with it.... doesn't he look like any other sweet smaller dog??

NGSDs are pretty rare and really awesome... it's great that you're able to foster one.

He seems perfectly lovely and well behaved. Are New Guinea Singing Dog wild dogs or domestic dogs? When I looked them up they were talked of as both it seems. Good job rescuing him anyway.

Is the third dog also a rescue?

Up until 2 months ago, it was thought that there were only about 150 of these guys known to exist is captivity, either privetly owned or in sanctuaries. Then there was a discovery of over 80 of these dogs in PA held by the same owner. PA law states that one can own up to 25 dogs w/o a special permit (isn't that ironic, WDs are banned, but owning a couple dozen dogs is OK - geez!) ANYWAY, the NGSDI has been assisting the owner with rehoming/rehabing these pups. They were ALL outside dogs, kept in pens, with little or no human contact. The dog I am fostering was considered "untouchable" before he came here... really, has been unbelievable... I just approached it like any other timid/unsocialized rescue.... and he responded.... Funny thing, he hates the cold weather

I am watching one of my rescue pups as his parents had a weekend vacation. I was a little concerned about how Bullwinkle would tolerate the visitor, but as you see, it was like pudding!

The thing is, is that when we decided to "foster" Bullwinkle, he was suppose to go to a small ZOO in northern WI!!! Nope, not this pup, after careful consideration, we have decided to adopt Bullwinkle... he is a HOUSE DOG! He Hates the cold, loves the girls and his new pillow that I bought him for an early Christmas present. I never thought I would be the type of doggie owner who would buy a sweater for my pup, BUT.... this might have to be an exception

We'll see how he does with the Cali Dogs coming up on Wed

Should be fine!

Yup, he can get on the top rung on his own. I was hoping he'd use it to lounge on and look out the window, but what I've seen is that he'll jump up on it while playing and lay in wait until the right moment to pounce.... hysterical!
