Lobo (USA) - adopted

Post by michifloo » Thu Sep 09, 2010 7:35 pm

This is a really cool story. Unfortunately I run into this alot, and can't intervene all of the time....

This is "Lobo". He was dropped off annonimoulsy at a shelter and labeled a High Content Wolf Dog. I received an e-mail from one of my WD rescuer folks with one terrible picture of him...Not an HCWD by any stretch of the term, big ears, GSD nose, really nice defined markings. He was only going to be released to an appropriate rescue, or euthenised. Fortunately for Lobo, he had a guardian angel at the ward who wouldn't let anything happen to him as long as there was discussion.

I intervened and had them post some better pics of this boy on their PetFinder account (a service for rescue orgs) and sure enough, he didn't type out as a WD. The shelter received some good education about typing dogs and they released him to me. I had several WD Folks look at him, just to be sure.....I have had several dogs through my service this year (many were not posted here on the forum) and I have to say, Lobo is one of the easiest going love-buckets I've come across. He fit right in here in no time. He loves the other dogs here and hates it when the men of my house leave for the day. He's sitting nicely for treats in a circle with the others, and has become comfortable eating with them, as well. He plays just like my Loo-Loo, jumping around and slapping with his paws and once in a while a little nip in the hind quarters to get her attention!

He was just a big goof at the Vets office, loves everyone....prob about a year or year and a half old (fairly white teeth)

I will be posting him on PetFinder this weekend. I chose to hold off, since the shelter did not vaccinate, I wanted to make darn sure he was healthy.

If anyone is interested in how Phenotyping works, let me know in a private msg. Its kind of a long discussion, dealing with % vs content....but would be willing to share here if there is enough interest...all good to know if someone asks you about your Tam.

From the neck down he looks very Tamaskan-y... Jasper has the EXACT same coat / fur along his back. Identical.
His head seems quite fine / elongated but it could just be the angle... I'm looking forward to more photos! :D

Can't wait to meet this one. It is always fascinating to see what a person can call a "wolf dog"

Well, I can understand why they would call it a wolf dog.
But he is a beautiful boy, hope he gets his forever home soon.

He reminds me a bit of Moira, when she just arrived at our home:
