AZDehlin Art

Post by AZDehlin » Mon Jun 06, 2011 6:14 pm

Here are some of the films I made when I attended NMU Collage of Art and Design:

This is the first animation I ever did sometime 2007:

This is my second animation. All frame for frame drawing then scanned and manipulated in Photoshop and After Effects:

This third one was a in remembrance of my GSD I had as a kid... Also shows my wood burning skills if anyone is interested in a commissioned piece

Here is another one of my animations... The first one I did in 3D space (gives the effect of layers and causes shadows):

Here is my first documentary... On the Local Zoo

Video layers project I did with my little sister and her dog on the beach in my back yard.

I will upload some of my Photography, and pictures of some of my Drawling and Woodworking

That costume is ace, your so talented...... :D

I worked on it for 13 months. Total of 275 documented hours. Everything is made from scratch (pattern... helmet base... nose... eyes... claws...)
Roughly 300 spots I cut and dropped in by hand... My sewing machine is not cut out for the small detail.

The first costume is always an experiment and takes a lot longer to problem solve... next one shouldn't take so long... plus I think I will stay away from spotted animals... haha

Part of the fun in it is showing it off.

Only down side to the suit is it doesn't breath well. I helped teach a winter camping class this semester at NMU. One of our lessons was trying to teach college student awareness in the woods. I brought my clouded leopard suit and to really drive it into there brains I snuck up on them while they were around the fire... Scared them to death... but they all started to pay attention to there surroundings after that. It was - 17 F (- 27 C) with three feet of un packed snow. I thought I was going to pass out from heat exhaustion.

Running through the woods in it didn't do anything to it except confirm the design I came up with for the paw pads was indestructible.

I have come across that webpage before, when I was trying to fins how to make a pattern for one of these suits. I found that these artists that commision these works have people make a duck tape dummy to send in so their costume fits perfectly

Look forward to you posting your animation. :D

yeah, those costumes are crazy! i cant image the intense amount of work that goes into something like that, doing every single part- like in your video, painting the eyes. just every little aspect. and with the commissions i bet people have some crazy challenging requests too. must be so interesting.

  If you wore it at the right time of day and only let them catch glimpses of it you could really convince them you had a new 'pet' . Of course you might just have to explain to the authorities that you really do not have some exotic big cat hiding in the house.

I love black in white photography, color can get in the way. A lot of people over saturate things and it gives it that fake look personally.

All the pictures where taken at feeding time the bear smelling the deer carcass in front of him and was probably wondering who is this new person in my habitat. Lynx was watching the meal truck come up the hill. The tiger was the most intense... SOOO much power. Coyote was pacing back and fourth with all the activity around.

It's a lot of fun and relatively easy... got me hooked on wood working ... You should give it a try :)

You would have to leave it unattended... It can smoke a lot depending on the wood never had and open flame though.
