Colors of Siberian Huskies

Huskies, particularly working lines, come in several variations of colors (some rarer than others)...

Agouti, Wolf Grey and Sable coats were used to create more 'wolfy-looking' dogs, as seen in the Tamaskan.

Also, check out google images of Finnish racing huskies and Alaskan racing huskies to see how the body-type of the Siberian Husky changed over time, depending on purpose (usually speed sled racing). There is a BIG difference between a modern SHOW Siberian and a modern RACING Alaskan!

I agree that is pretty cool about the different colors. I never knew there was such a big variation in the breed.

Huskies are the only breed that I know of that the standard allows any coat colour and any eye colour. Some of them have three different colours in one eye ...i.e. top half blue, bottom half split in two and maybe yellow and brown or whatever. They are really interesting. One of the reasons that I love them so much. But because of this it would be no good introducing the 'usual' huskies into our breed. The Finnish ones I used were line bred for wolf colour/coat only.

I dont think they have Merle rather than it not being allowed, I have seen Brindle though.
The standard says All colours and marking, including white, allowed. Variety of marking on head is common, including many striking patterns not found in other breeds.

My cousins husky has one eye thats half blue half brown... It's really cool looking... Didn't know three colors were possible

I have many examples of these Siberian Huskies with our Tamaskan colouring, and have been trying to find one particular one with the three eye colour without success. I will keep trying. By choosing the bloodlines that I did with the colours above I developed the coat and colour that we have today in our Tamaskan. Who said we needed wolf to produce what we have today

You are right. Balto was a Siberian Husky and is now stuffed and mounted in the Cleveland museum of natural history. (wrong.... Just so wrong....)

There is also a statue in central park with the inscription: "Endurance, Fidelity, Intelligence" (much better than stuffed, dead dog on display.)

The dog-gone-wild (call of the wild) and wolf-gone-tame (white fang) stories are Jack London's fiction.
(wow but that man could write!)

Cleveland! That’s it (I see a somewhat true story about animals, I spend way more time than the average person googling

)... well at the time it seems wrong to have your pet stuffed but he was a remarkable dog and I guess they thought they were preserving his honour. Now it's a piece of history and you can see what he looked like without people guessing or seeing various descriptions hear, there and everywhere. The statue's cool

This is a picture of my favorite Sibe as a puppy. She had the most gorgeous eyes and it looked like she had much eyeliner all around them. She won just everything she was entered in and became my best lead dog. She went on to produce some fabulous show and working dogs. Another pic of her here with her mum at her breeder's kennels

Yes she had a litter over in Finland. I will try to find some pics of the pups. Some went to show homes and did very well and others went for racing over there.

Thats the thing that I love about the Siberian. You never know what colour you will get or what eye colours. They can be a bit like marbles sometimes
