No way, seriously? I was in my jacket and the wind was blowing into my face and drying my eye-lids here at North York! How could your climate be the opposite to mine when our towns are very close to each other?jyotin wrote:It was 25 degrees C today!!!....we were in shorts and tank tops..but last weekend I was contemplating whether I should wear my winter jacket or not....strange weather

Thank you! It shouldn't be too hard as growing up my family have lived in California, Guam, and VA Beach which are pretty warm places too, I've also deployed to the desert before

I see, I have relatives in California whom I visit once in a long while, too, so I know what you mean. Anyways, take your time to adjusting to your new home and organizing out everything. I'm sure things will work out and good luck.TParham86 wrote:fangjingtuanlucas wrote:Good luck adjusting to the hot conditions down there. Northern California gets snow every winter, they have some great ski places... Southern California never.Convel wrote:Not in Death Valley it doesn't. Death Valley holds the record for hottest temperatures in the North American Continent... if it snowed there it may be the end of the world

Re: How's the weather down there?
It's snowing right now! FINALLY! Big white snowflakes, those that fall really slowly.
But I'm going to bed now, so I just hope the snow won't run away till morning:D

Re: How's the weather down there?
Hi there Katlin, weather update for Toronto today as of January 23/12
(Talking in Weather Forecaster accent)
Wet drops of rain with high winds and no snow (although the roads are slippery).
Traffic jam caused many delays and the temperature should continue to heat up in downtown and the northern suburbs until the following week where winter is said to kick back again. The remaining snow are melting away in the meantime and the rock salts are causing huge messes on the road.
Crazy weather got me late for my 8:00 am lab but luckily my professor had mercy on me this time (thank you Carlos for understanding the uncontrollable situations)

Re: How's the weather down there?
Well there's freezing rain and icing rain. Freezing rains start out wet but eventually freeze after a while leaving your skin dry and the latter is semi-wet to begin with and pelts your skin if you're not dressed warmly. I merely used wet drop to refer to the common type. And then there's the completely dry snow (until it melts) and the hard icy solid hail (I've been pelt by those a lot over the previous two summers and I'm sure many other people have too)claireyclaire wrote:Wet drops of rain, what other type of rain is there?!

Well today July 23... My city of about 25,000 was about completely shutdown due to black ice from the freezing rain last night. Then it started snowing in early hours of the morning and we got about 12 inches of heavy snow. Everything is white including the tree trunks from the wicked wind.

And for update on today's weather in the GTA as of February 28/12
There is still no snow but I am getting some nasty hard wind here in North York shooting at my windows like a taifeung. The weather is sooooooooooo confusing this year, one day I get some snow, the next day they all melt away and then a few days later I get frozen puddles around the yard on a sunny day without any wind.
What's Mother Nature playing at?
