Color Hue Test - How well do you see color?

Post by arianwenarie » Tue Sep 24, 2013 5:12 am

A friend of mine posted his test results on facebook. I was jealous after I took the test, seeing as he had perfect color vision according to the test. I swear I was about to cry mid-way through the test..all the colors look the same. XD

What's your score? Mine was 16. Post screenies if you can. ;)

Ahh I found it! My score was 3, the faults I made were all in the pink ones.

Edit: Haha, I just did it again :P

Same score, only this time the faults are in a different color.

Hmm, will do the test after my next lecture.

I know for a fact that I was diagnosed with a mild form of deuteranomaly. I can still distinguish both red and green, but I sometimes also see blue-green as "grey" or "yellowish orange" as this. I cannot see muave though!

Thanks Terri...general consensus states the female population is well versed in the various shades of color. i.e. cyan, teal, lavendar, fuscia, etc.

But me? No way. If you asked me the difference between teal, turquiose or cyan, I could only tell you that they're BLUE. XD

 I'm pretty much the same... I want a purple room... I'm faced with a gazillion purples all looking vaguely similar and get asked what shade (half hour later, shop person finishes reeling off the list of shades)... To me, it comes in 3 shades... Dark purple, medium purple and light purple.

Yeah I'm definitely colourblind because that to me looks like a cross between light blue and greenish grey. According to my optomologist, men have a slightly smaller colour vision range than women and she suspects that it may be link to our smaller Y-chromosome and she was not talking about the usual colourblindness either. Although I personally question if colour range is really encoded within our sex chromosomes though I do know that most colourblindness disorders are x-linked

Many eons ago when I was in high school biology class, we covered colorblindness in a span of 10 minutes. My teacher just told us "There are possibly many women who carry the colorblindness gene, but don't express it because females have that extra X chromosome to cover it up and make it go away. Men don't have that luxury." or something to that effect. :P

One of my biology professor at Seneca told me that sometimes women who are carriers of colourblindness may see colours in a slightly off range but not to the same level of those who are affected. My professor Li Xiaomao also said that carriers of x-link disorders can easily pass down and "doom a lot of sons" depending on what that disorder is.

I scored 98%, damn

No surprise considering that I was diagnosed with a form of colourblindness from an early age.
I wonder if I were to change my Y-chromosome into an X (I know that technology exist yet) and become a real woman would I get a lower score...

I also got zero.

A lot really depends though how well your screen is calibrated; I have my laptop screen and a second screen which has more contrasts, and it was certainly easier to do this test on the second screen.

I'm starting to think my library computer is using an outdated graphic card as well. Perhaps I should redo the test on my brother's laptop that's using a more updated graphic card

I got 3, don't know whether to blame being tired, my computer screen, or getting impatient. :P

(Not sure if this fits into this topic)

Here's a video of an artist who is a tetrachromat:

I do partially disagree with Concetta when she said that a man cannot be a tetrachromat. While I understand why males cannot be born as such theoretically due to us only having 1 X-chromosome, I have kind of thought outside the box in which IF a person who was born female is a tetrachromat and she later on transitioned into a male, that man would STILL have his four receptor cones in his eyes and would therefore be a legitimate male tetrachromat.

Unless if there was any alternative such as artificially implanting one in the eye of a person but there has yet to be any technology to do this in the present.

EDITED: Another two possibility for a male to be a tetrachromat is if the boy was born as an XXY Klinefelter Syndrome type OR if a man received transplanted eyes from a female donor who was a tetrachromat
