We would like to announce that, effective immediately, all new / upcoming / future TDR breeding dogs will have to undergo some additional mandatory health testing. In addition to hip scoring via the BVA, elbow scoring is now also necessary. Hip and Elbow x-rays can be taken at the same time and the x-rays can then be submitted together with the appropriate forms directly to the BVA for official evaluation. The BVA offers a discounted price for hip and elbow x-ray evaluations when you pay for both services together:

This is a requirement for all new / upcoming / future TDR breeding dogs; it is optional for all existing TDR breeding dogs that have already been hip scored via the BVA. Elbow scores will need to be BVA 0, OFA Normal, FCI Normal, etc in order for a dog to qualify for breeding.
Furthermore, at the age of 12+ months old, all new / upcoming / future TDR breeding dogs will now have to have one mandatory physical eye exam by a licensed veterinary ophthalmologist in order to be cleared for breeding. In the USA this eye exam is called "OFA CAER", in the UK this eye exam is called the "BVA Eye Scheme", in Australia this eye exam is called the "AVA ACES", and in Europe this eye exam is called the "ECVO". If you are a TDR Breeder who lives in a country where such an eye exam scheme (or a similar / equivalent eye screening exam) does not yet exist, then it will be necessary to have your new / upcoming / future TDR breeding dog's eyes examined by a licensed veterinary ophthalmologist, with a printed statement of the results (along with your dog's microchip number and other identifying information) provided to the TDR.
Moreover, we highly recommend that ALL existing TDR breeding dogs have one physical eye exam by a licensed veterinary ophthalmologist (using one of the aforementioned eye exam schemes) at the earliest possible convenience. We are allowing a 'grace period' for TDR breeders to have their existing TDR breeding dogs screened but, as of 01.01.2016, it will be a mandatory requirement for all current breeding dogs to have had one physical eye exam by a licensed veterinary ophthalmologist. As of this time we are only requiring ONE official eye exam just to be certain that all current breeding dogs are presently clear of any eye abnormalities, which may be genetically inherited.
With kind regards,
The TDR Committee
