I've grown up with Shetland Sheepdogs, had a Whippet and now have a two year old Ca de Bou, or Mallorcan mastiff/bulldog. I discovered the Tamaskan breed in (I think it was) late 2008, through a site listing different types of GSD types and relatives, including the Saarloos and Csv (which were known to me since several years back), and the Utonagan.
I looked it up, and learned about the Northern Inuit, Utonagan, and the Tamaskan. I've kept them in my mind but never seriously considered them by the time I got my current dog, as they were not what I was looking for at the time.
Now, I was planning to let the next dog (whenever that happens - 1, 2 years from now?) be a little dog, like a Volpino, but damn, I have a thing for the big "back-to-basic dogs" too, and the Korea Jindo Dog and Thai Ridgeback Dog (that I have admired for years) feel too "wild" for the lifestyle I have now. So I'd rather aim for a more domesticated breed, with the wild looks (though as any sane person, I put health and temperament above looks any day

I have however decided to get a cat before the next dog, so I have time to think (I don't want to be getting animals too close in time, it feels almost like impulse-buying), learn if the Tamaskan actually fits me, read up on all the disagreements (I just recently learned of the Aatu Tamaskan and the "Tamaskan Truth" websites and so on - boy is this a mess

But then I look up current puppies, and DAMN (sorry) am I thankful that I have great resistance against puppy pictures.

(But why do the cutest ones have to be the ones still available?)
Oh well. I will wait until I know what I'm getting into, and not go impulse-buying.
