Hey everyone from Washington ^_^

Post by aronoiiel » Wed Sep 08, 2010 4:11 am

After a few years research and deep soul searching I've decided that a wolfdog was not for me. So, a friend suggested a few different breeds that were wolf like in appearance but not in blood lol. Low and behold of the 7 or so she threw at me this one stuck out and made me fall in love. I have an 8 month old Siberian Husky and a 4yr old corgi mix at the current time and boy do they keep me hopping ^_^ they get along great but I think one last dog may be in the works to make our pack perfect. Though I just love the look of this breed it will take me months of research and questions to finally decide if they are the right choice. Long story short hit me with info cause I'm willing and more than happy to learn.

I'm curious though we do a LOT of hiking and woodsy stuff and was thinking that the Tamaskan would get on well with out constant doing stuff group; as a working breed though what would be the best way to keep his mind active on walks? Like with Kiana my husky she's been wearing a pack to carry her own water and bowl in as she tends to get flighty and bored on long walks and it kinda keeps her focused. Would that be a similarly good thing to do for a Tamaskan?

Welcome to the forum! :)

Since you already have a Siberian Husky pup, a would Tamaskan fit in perfectly. Like Huskies, Tamaskan Dogs are an arctic breed so they share quite a few similarities. When you're hiking in the woods a backpack would be useful but is not totally necessary - as far as working dogs go, Tamaskans are not as demanding as huskies (in my experience): they don't HAVE to run / pull / carry but they do LIKE to. ;)

My dogs spend most of the time sniffing and playing when we're out hiking... I did consider the backpack idea, but they also like to run and splash around in water, so it might not be a good idea or they'd soak the backpacks! :lol:

Anyway, there are many legitimate / reputable Tamaskan breeders here on this forum who can help you on your quest to acquire a Tamaskan pup. Enjoy your visits here and take a look around... the forum contains a wealth of info (as well as photos) and experiences from Tamaskan owners. ;)

Welcome :)

And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I think a Tamaskan would be fine with long hikes. They just like to be with their pack no matter where :)
