Fritz the Sptiz

Post by Mamallamak » Thu Jul 14, 2011 4:31 pm

Missing my crotchity old man Fritz. I got Fritz from the SPCA when he was 5 years old. He gave us the best years old his life, and we let him go on Saturday, July 2, 2011. He was 19 yrs old. He was always smiling and always willling to give you all his love. He wasn't big on learning any tricks. I think he was too smart.....smart enough to act too dumb to learn any, so we couldn't make him :-) He tried to act like a puppy, even till the end. He would try his best to run around the yard playing with me and Moose, but he looked like a bunny rabit bouncing through the yard in slow motion. It was so cute. For the last year I had to carry him up and down the stairs to the deck, but when we got to the door he would insist on me putting him down so he could "run" in the house like a big man. And boy could he eat some carrots! That was his favorite treat!
This is a picture of Fritz from last winter when we were out playing int he snow. He used to love to play in the snow. In his younger years he had a big bushy tail that curled up over his back. This was the only place he ever showed his age.......it turned into a rat tail a few years ago and he just had a few spindly hairs. He would turn into a little polar bear during the winter.....but there was that rat tail.....Love you Fritzy!! Miss you!!!

  Ooooh, this is very sad. I wish you a lot of strength with this small history:

A bridge connects the sky and the earth. Because of many colours one calls them the bridge of the rainbow. On a side of the bridge there lies a country with meadows, hills and juicy green grass. If a beloved animal on the earth has always fallen asleep for..., it goes to this wonderful place. There is always to food and to drinking and it is always warm, nice spring weather. The old and ill animals become young in the country behind the rainbow bridge again and healthy and play together the whole day. The animals are happy there and contented and there is only one little thing which they miss. They all are not with the person together whom they have loved so much.

Thus they run and play together every day, until one day suddenly one of them pauses and looks up. The nose shakes, the ears position themselves forwards and the eyes become quite big! Suddenly it runs from the group, flies about the green grass. Becomes quicker and quicker. It has seen you and if you and your darling meet, you take him in your arms and hold him so firmly you are able. Your face is kissed and licked off, again and again and, finally, you never look after long time in the eyes of your beloved animal who had disappeared long from your life...., however, from your heart! Then you cross together the last piece of the bridge of the rainbow and you will be never again separated.... never again!

RIP Fritz   I am so sorry for your loss - he sounds like he was a wonderful dog. 19 years is very old for a dog (about 130 in human years, if my calculations are correct) so I'm sure he had a great life: long, full and happy. Even though he is gone, he will stay forever in your heart.

There's no best friend like a pet.
A pet is always there for you,
warm, friendly, dedicated to duty,
and always ready to cuddle up
next to you when it's cold outside.

When God calls such a special friend home,
you suddenly feel lost.
You feel like something wonderful
is missing from your life.
For so long your pet watched over you,
always guiding you and protecting you
like a guardian angel.

And indeed like an angel
your best friend
was sent to you from God.
But even when God feels it's time
for your pet to rest,
your best friend is never really gone.

The bond of friendship you created
will live in your heart forever.
And after the grief subsides
the memories of the good times you spent
with your beloved friend
will again make you smile
and give you comfort.

And in the way of a guardian angel,
your pet will always be watching over you
from above,
sending you its warmth and love.

R.I.P. Fritz

Sorry for your loss. He sounds like he was a wonderful character. He had a long and happy life by the sound of it. RIP Fritz.

RIP Fritz, sorry for your loss
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
.............................................................
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Thanks everyone. He really was a great dog. I love him dearly and miss him. Moose has been great, giving me extra kisses. Dogs are amazing how they know when your hurting and need extra love. My daughter has been Mooses favorite since we got him, but since Fritz left, he has tried very hard to give us equal attention. So sweet. He has really helped ease my sadness.

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

~ Cherokee Proverb

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity... I'm not sure about the former.
