Annual Tamaskan Show for the USA

Post by Tarheel » Fri Feb 04, 2011 1:56 am

I have just set the date for the 2nd annual Tamaskan show for the USA hosted by the National Tamaskan Club of America (NTCA)
Date: JUNE 4th, 2011 (this is the new date - please update calendars!)
Place: Moyock, North Carolina

Our first show was a big success and we hope that this year will be even bigger and better that our first. With more puppies being imported this year thanks to our friends over the big pond, we should have a very competitive puppy class.
You do not need to have a Tamaskan to join us, all dogs are welcome and if we get enough non-Tamaskans, we can add additional catagories.

Please email John or Tina Bannow at Tarheel Tamaskan for complete details. tarheel.tamaskan@yahoo.com

HMMMM this is quite a drive from Toronto, but I think I'm going to try and CON someone into coming with me lol and make it into a "road trip" and attend. :D

Perhaps next year the US show could be held later in the year...autumn maybe? Summer is usually too hot for the dogs and travelling with them. Anytime before May and good chance it may be wet and cold. Any comments from our US buddies? ;)

I was really wanting to go this year, but right now my husband is in the hospital and money wise, it looks like we won't be able to as we would need quite a bit saved up for gas, hotel, ect. :(
I really wanted Ulric to meet Blaze (since they're half brothers right?) because I know he would have fun meeting other Tamaskans. Okay, I would have fun too meeting other Tamaskans ;)

September would probably be perfect for the US Show next year.

Time of the year and place are important to consider. It is warmer in the South earlier. May will be beautiful weather in North Carolina. August and September can be hot in the Carolinas or Southern states. Northern states might work for fall :D

If the majority of the Tamaskan owners want the show in the Midwest or other parts, we will have the show where it will serve the owners the best. Depending on where the show is will weigh heavily on what time of year the show will be held. Spring is great for North Carolina, where Chicago may still get snow.
One thing we will have to do is coordinate better with the UK and Euro shows, so people from abroad can attend.
I know I am seriously considering the 10th Anniversary in the UK.

Show date has changed.
Due to scheduling conflicts we have rescheduled the USA Tamaskan Dog Show for Jun 4th.
Sorry for any problems that this may cause, but it was between cancelling the show all together or changing the date slightly.
Date: 04 June2011
Place: Moyock, North Carolina
at US Training Center.
If you intend on bringing a Tamaskan for the show, I will need to know the age and sex of the dog for judging purposes.

Hi John,
We plan on attending. We'll be brining Freyja (2 yrs. 4 mo. in June) and Darwin (7 mo.). Ben and i will bring the two of them, and may need to bring Fenris, too.

I will be there with Dylan. He will be 1 in May and is an intact male. I may consider bringing Luna as well, we will have to see. She would be an other category and more for company for Dylan.

The date for the USA show is JUNE 4th. I had to battle many conflicting schedules, but this is the finalized date. Make your plans now. JUNE 4th.

I really wish everyone can make the show, but I understand it is impossible to please everyone all the time.
If any who is not a US citizen is planning on attending, I need you to contact me through email or PM so I can get details to get you cleared to enter the property where the show is being held. Not my rules but company policy.
Everyone that is a US citizen, I just need your full name ( as it appears on your drivers licence) forwarded to me and state you are a US citizen.

To everyone going to the show: my original plan was to drive down from NY to NC with my girlfriend and her friend who is moving to NC on June 3rd. But a change of plans has made it impossible for either of them to travel on this date. So, I am hoping that I can hitch a ride part of the way with anyone who is driving southward from somewhere near NY? Anyone?

I just wanted to let everyone know that Bullwinkle has been invited to attend! Loo will be traveling, as well, so he'll have his bonded buddy to show him the way! I can't hardly wait to introduce the NGSD to our Tamaskan enthusiasts! This is a great oppertunatly for anyone interested in meeting one of the four primitive breeds! Bullwinkle, the wonder dog with Loo-Loo! Ahh! What could be better!

I can make that date if you'll have my dogs and me. Weekends are easy for me with no school. Plus it's before the move. I've found two houses right now with at least an acre of land for the dogs. Just have to pick what one. Still looking for better until the move date is picked. But once I move I can start taking in a few rescue dogs :D I can't wait. But that aside, like I said we can make it if your willing to have us. All four dogs can make it as well as of right now, but if you don't want all to come I'm sure whoever can't will love not having me around to stop them from having their way with grandma as boss.

As stated before, all are welcome. I just need an email or PM with the full names of the people who are attending. Security is present and people must be cleared by company policy to enter the property. This is why I need full porper names to avoid any hold ups or delays getting onto the property. If you are not a US citizen, I will need to know this, because security needs to run seperate checks on non-US citizens.
If you are not sure if you can make it, let me have your names just to be on the safe side, in case you decide at the last minute to attend.

Ooo, we can't wait. We will probably drive down Friday night, stay overnight and then attend the show on Saturday. This will be crazy with three dogs and two handlers--but we'll be well equipped with treats.
Should we bring a picnic or snacks to share? Are there tables?
Thanks!

That sounds like a great idea and to make things a bit better on you. Right now I'm doing four dogs with one handler. But I'm use to it as that is how we go everywhere.

my plans for attending are dependent on my daughter.

If she gives birth to my first grandchild by june 3rd. I'll be there! :D

If she's still pregnant I'll have to stay here. :?

I don't think I could get back to Ohio in time if she goes into labor while I'm in North Carolina.

(She's due within the next two weeks, so here's hoping!)

I would go with Quality Inn. I think the last time I stayed at one they had free breakfast and it's $10 to have a pet? It's been about two years so things may have changed.

I'm still hoping to go. But may not be able to as a Shelter is being closed in KY that day. I may be going down to help move the dogs in it. But if not, I'll be there with Rin, Omi, and Kai. Akira is getting her hips and elbows done just before and I don't want to travel so long with her right after waking up from it. Meaning I may also leave on of the boys to keep her company. But Rin will be with me at lest.

Those going to be in North East North Carolina tomorrow (Moyock, NC) ...don't forget the NTCA (USA's) Tamaskan 2nd annual get together. It's a great chance to meet and greet some real Tamaskans for yourselves! They love the attention! Contact me if you want to go quickly so I can add you to the list. Many are stopping by with their dogs. All are welcome, just let us know!

I am getting excited and can't wait to see everyone! Hope to see everyone that can make it there! Travel safe!!!! :D
