Puppy food

Post by Kavahan » Mon Mar 11, 2019 8:37 am

Hi community, I'm Carlos from Santa Maria...
I have 9 week puppy and when we picked him up from the breeder she had said just to get him shop own brand puppy dried food as they are all the same. All her dogs were in fantastic condition and very well behaved etc so I thought id go with that.
Yesterday I ran out of food and the shop local to me only sold Bakers puppy food https://petapproves.com/best-puppy-food/ , so I grabbed a small box and at lunch time when he first had it he wolfed it down. He had been leaving about half of the shop own brand stuff but he ate the whole lot of Bakers, so I said to my husband maybe that shop brand stuff was crap and started looking online to where I can get big bulk bags of bakers.
I then came across lots of forums, webpages stating that Bakers is not a good food to give them as full of e numbers and can make a dog hyper etc.

Does anyone have any advice/experience they can give me on this? He has had bakers for a day and half now but obviously if it is going to have an adverse effect on him I will knock it on the head asap. I havent noticed a difference in him behaviour wise, he is hyper but he is a puppy!

Thanks

Hmmm I'm not sure about "shop own brand puppy dried food" and dry kibble is definitely not all the same... there's a huge range from extremely low quality to super premium quality. I'm not familiar with the Bakers brand, but I would suggest a grain-free high quality (super premium) dry kibble and/or BARF (Bones And Raw Food / Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) diet. There's a good website that lets you compare the best brands of dry kibble here: https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/best-dog ... dog-foods/
